Cutter, You Are Beautiful (diptych), discarded “cutter” remnants of antique quilt repaired and reinforced with 24K real gold thread made of paper and gold leaf. Each piece approx. 26″ x 26″. 2014-15.

In this work, I’m addressing the language around ‘damaged goods,’ including ‘cutter,’ a term sometimes used to self-identify by young girls who cut themselves. How do we ‘repair’ the past? What does repair look like? Is it possible to reconstruct, repair invisibly?
