Also installed at <a title=\"GSU Gallery\" href=\"http:\/\/www.govst.edu\/gallery\/\" target=\"_blank\">Governors State University Visual Arts Gallery<\/a> in 2013, without candles.<\/p>\n<p><em>Material Passes Through Material<\/em> Is an image\/text video &#8220;altar.&#8221; The piece combines digitally manipulated original and found footage with text extracted from <em>Shadow Land<\/em>, the 19th century memoir of a well-known spiritualist and medium of the period, Elizabeth D&#8217;Esperance.
